Gold filled jewelry is an amazing, quality alternative to solid gold. It is a thick layer of 14 kt pure gold permanently bonded over another metal. Gold filled should not be confused with gold plated. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plated. 

Gold filled can be worn by those with sensitive skin, is tarnish resistant, and will last for years if properly cared for. Many owners find that they never have to clean gold filled items at all. If it's necessary, clean gold filled using mild soap and water.
